We have recently completed another New World supermarket for Savory Construction in Hillcrest Hamilton additional to those completed in Tauranga including Brookfield, Gate Pa and Mt Maunganui. Previous supermarkets include Whangamata, Waihi and Whitianga which have been complete new developments from the ground up. Plumbing Works completed all the plumbing services, waste and mechanical services (for refrigeration contractors) for all these supermarkets.

Further it is a requirement under the building code for these buildings to have an annual warrant of fitness, this involves from a plumbing point of view issuing an IQP Test and report for any testable backflow valves within the building. Plumbing Works installs backflow protection valves and we have our own qualified IQP technicians in house who can carry out the IQP Tests, commission and test any of these backflow valves. This service can be offered to any supermarket or commercial building.

We were contracted to supply all sanitary fittings and associated plumbing for the New North Wing and Podium contract being the first stage of the project. The contract started in June 2006 and was completed on budget and successfully. The plumbing contract value was in excess of $1.8 million plus approximately $500,000 for the hospital roofing contract. Our team on site, performed well in meeting all contractual obligations and maintained close liaison with the main contractor Fletcher Construction BOP in order to meet all programs. We installed in excess of 500 sanitary fittings and tapware, 6500 metres of copper piping and 3800 metres of PVC piping on the Hospital Contract. Challenges included working after hours and preparing sufficient materials to ensure jobs were completed by the following morning to prevent any disruption to hospital services. We then secured the second stage being the West Wing which was completed by the end of 2008. The challenge was to route all the plumbing services without interrupting the 4th floor where the ICU is located in order for the lower floors to be renovated. We have also completed an number of other projects such as the Path Lab & Blood Lab at the Whakatane Hospital site and have just started drainage works at the new Path Lab at the Tauranga Hospital.

There has also been a strong demand for early child learning centres over the recent years and Plumbing Works staff have helped with many of these in the Tauranga area, specific equipment being special junior toilet suites and wash areas. One of the important issues with schools and child learning centres is controlling the temperature of water at the taps.
